Bye bye Barney

If your knowledge of dinosaurs begins and ends with Barney, Godzilla and Rex from Toy Story, the Ulster Museum in Belfast could be a real eye-opener.

It’s currently hosting the biggest dino exhibition ever mounted in Ireland, with animatronic models, interactive displays, eerily sophisticated sound effects and more than 60 rare specimens on loan from London’s Natural History Museum. Head of Natural Sciences at the museum, Dr Peter Crowther, conceded that the Age of the Dinosaur show probably isn’t suitable for children under three, but should have the rest of the family spellbound.
